#RubyTubeDay Book Review

Daisy Daydream Bus Rhymes and Jokes by Sue Wickstead

A book of poetry and rhymes with a bus twist.Together with a few tickets full of jokes to capture the imagination of young readers and get them to giggle along on the bus journey.Daisy Daydream the nursery Rhyme bus now has a few nursery rhymes of her own.

The real Daisy

In 1987 the real Daisy was given a new lease of life when she was repainted with popular Nursery Rhyme characters for the children to enjoy and sing along.

The brightly decorated exterior would attract the attention of the children and get them running along to play and explore inside.

The playbus was a very popular and much-loved venue for a playgroup and fondly remembered.

A safe place to enjoy and certainly full of fun.

#RubyTubeDay Poetry ‘A Train Ride to Brum’

#RubyTubeDay YouTube video of ‘A Train Ride to Brum’

A Train Ride To Brum.

The train rumbles & rolls
over rusty rails.
Gazing from the window,
I watch.
Seeing lush green embankments
which fade down
to dull, dark, dusty wasteland.
The trees once tall and majestic
now look sad and depleted.
They are small and skeletal,
like anorexic teenagers.
No blossom as yet fills these trees,
they currently bloom with a spectacular display of
plastic carriers,
and a vast array of other exotic waste foliage.
Reaching to the heavens they forever seek solace
in the warm spring sun.

No Birds.

No birds were there singing this morning,
as the new day around us was dawning.
It’s raining outside,
in their nests they do hide,
snuggled up in their down and just yawning.

Rainbows.

Today I am the soft summer rain,
You are my sweet golden sunshine.
Together we’ll build us a rainbow,
to last, a life time.

The Birds.

I heard the birds singing since dawn.
So I rose from my bed with a yawn,
as I stepped out my door
I said “Please sing some more.
Then I’ll join you for drinks on the lawn”.
